Poet Jane Hirshfield said "... the feeling I have about poem-writing (is) that it is always an exploration, of discovering something I didn't already know. Who I am shifts from moment to moment, year to year. What I can perceive does as well. A new poem peers into mystery, into whatever lies just beyond the edge of knowable ground."
I bring a different poem to the writing classes each week, not only to inspire but to introduce new poets to the group members.

I’ve come back to the country where I was happy changed. Passion puts no terrible strain on me now. I wonder what will take the place of desire. I could be the ghost of my own life returning to the places I lived best. Walking here and there, nodding when I see something I cared for deeply. Now I’m in my house listening to the owls calling and wondering if slowly I will take on flesh again. ~ from A Book of Luminous Things, edited by Czeslaw Milosz (Harcourt Brace and Company, 1996)
